Changing Lives

My initial plan early in my basketball career was to play in front of sold out arenas all over the world. As this dream became true, I realized there was more to the game than just being a great player on the court. I started to pay more attention to the reaction of the fan’s faces in the audience, and their enthusiasm to get as close as possible to me for an autograph, picture, or hand shake. This led me to realize that my talents on the basketball could have an affect on the lives of others. A positive affect at that.

So I made a promise to myself. A promise to be a leader on and off the court. In other words a role model. I decided to use my bball success as a platform to inspire others. So when I’m not on the road touring, I take the time to make numerous visits to schools, camps, and the Boys and Girls club to pass on a message of hope that you can accomplish anything you want to in life. I remind the youth that I was just like them, young, energized, and full of ambition. I do not sugar coat my story at all. I tell them about all of my failures along the way which helps them relate, as they too will encounter daily challenges.

Aside from being personable and approachable to each and every one of my fans at games or on social media, I look to inspire more and more people each day on a global scale, and have the chance to continue to CHANGE LIVES ONE BOUNCE AT A TIME!
